School

 

I was looking through my upcoming school's webpage and came across a PHOTO GALLERY ! ∩_∩ Aah the school looks so huge and nice. I can't wait to be there.

Sometime ago I got e-mail from my teacher who is going to teach me chinese while in Taiwan! He send me also a link to his facebook account but I couldn't find it ╥_╥ He's a teacher in the school and I'm not sure but it looked like there was some japanese student he is going to teach too.

And oh yeah now I'm sure that there is school uniforms at the school! ^∇^

Outbound meeting

Today was Finland's outbound meeting/training for all stundents going to either summer exchange or year exchange. There we were told a lot of important information about our traveling insurances, flight tickets and what to do if we get into trouble. And some Rotex students were talking about culturechock and language barriers.

 

The day was really long and I have been feeling ill all day. I got to see the others going to Taiwan and there's four of us. I didn't get so much new information about anything but it was still nice to be there and everything that Rotex students told us was very useful. I also bought some pins, Rotary Youth Exhange Finland hoodie and a buff scarf. 

We also ordered our blazers! I can't wait to get it haha. It didn't quite fit me but it's still pretty cool. I'm probably going to get it on the end of june or so.

Only three weeks left of school and it's summer holiday. Though I have swedish course in june so my holiday starts at 20th of june and then it will be exactly two months to my departure! The weird feeling is growing inside me and I'm thinking that I'm seriously going to be away from home for a year. It's extremely weird thought in my opinion but still very exciting!

Home & school

I got an another e-mail form my hostfamily and now I know the address and everything. So excited haha! I checked it from google maps street view and the place looks amazing >∇<

My home will be in Banciao District in Taipei City and my school will be in Sanxia District in Taipei County. I'll have to take at least two MRT's and a buss to the school. The school looks really nice and I found some photos from their facebook page. Their homesite says that it's on the root of a hill and surrounded by mountains ≧ω≦
And it looks like they have school uniforms there haha! That's gonna be new for me.

I'm just going to kick things going now.
This blog is going to be about my exchange year in Taiwan 2011-2012.

I'm Laura, seventeen (almost eighteen) year old girl from Finland. I'm at my first year in high school at Math and Science class. I applied to Rotary Youth Exchange program and luckily for me got accepted. I would have loved to go to South Korea but they don't send students from Finland there. My first choice on the list was Japan but now I'm extremely happy that I'm going to Taiwan. I suppose I'm going to Taipei Taiwans capital and my host club is Sanhsia Rotary Club at district 3490. In Finland my home club is Nastola Rotary Club at district 1390.

I don't know too much about my school and stuff yet and I'm patiently waiting for my guarantee form back from Taiwan. I've been in contact with my first host family through e-mail but I don't know exactly where they live. I'm going to get host sisters yay! I've also already made many new friends at Facebook and not only with Taiwanese people but also with other students going to Taiwan through Rotary. My own family is also going to be a host family at august when there's a Taiwanese girl coming to Finland as a exchange student.

I'll have a meeting with other finnish students on 14th of May and I'm probably going to write about that later.
